Federal Heights is generally considered a residential area and is located east of Virginia Street and south of Temple Street that runs east to the Wasatch Mountains. Federal Heights is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Salt Lake City. Many of the areas homes were built in the early 1900s. The neighborhood has the distinction of sitting below the "U" on the mountain that can be seen from miles away. With its close proximity to the University of Utah, it has always appealed to University professors and faculty. In addition to the spectacular views of the Salt Lake Valley, the neighborhood streets are lined with large trees, sidewalks and many diverse architecturally styled homes. Federal Heights is one of Salt Lake City's most prestigious and affluent neighborhoods.
